LGBTQ Victory Fund Endorses Taylor Small for Vermont House of Representatives

LGBTQ Victory Fund, the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ people to public office, has announced their endorsement of Taylor Small for Vermont House of Representatives. The endorsement signals Victory Fund’s confidence that Small is well-positioned to win the House race and will be a strong voice for equality once elected. Small would be the first openly transgender woman in the Vermont legislature if she wins her race, making this a historic run.

“LGBTQ Victory Fund is pleased to endorse Taylor Small for the Vermont House of Representatives,” said Mayor Annise Parker, President & CEO of LGBTQ Victory Fund. “Taylor’s commitment to equitable statewide healthcare and access to safe housing addresses the real concerns of her constituents and makes her the best candidate for Chittenden 6-7. When she wins in November, Taylor will become a vital LGBTQ voice.”

LGBTQ people remain severely underrepresented in government nationwide – holding just 0.15 percent of elected positions despite representing at least 4.5 percent of the U.S. population, according to Gallup. As an openly LGBTQ leader, Small will be an unwavering voice for equality in the Vermont House of Representatives. Her priorities in office will include improving access to affordable healthcare, setting a livable minimum wage, and advocating that housing is a human right. Victory Fund will promote Small’s endorsement among its hundreds of thousands of supporters nationwide. More information about Victory Fund can be found at victoryfund.org.
